Shower in the Clear Light

"There's a higher light, in Buddhism we call it the dharmakaya, the clear light. When you meditate you allow that light to filter through your being, to come into your mind, body and spirit, and essentially to purify you. Just like bathing in a waterfall or taking a shower."

-Rama

Meditate and purify your being. Stop thought, and let the clear light wash away your samskaras and karmas. It is that simple, and that beautiful!

Use your daily shower as a metaphor for your meditation practice. Allow the water to purify your entire being, as if the water droplets were the clear light. Remember your shower as you sit to meditate.

I will remember one particular shower!

I love Kauai. I can take myself back to a sandy beach and feel the balmy winds. The taste of salt is on my lips, and the warm water invites me in to her adventure. I can take myself there, now, and float in the crystal clear water, and I can see the fish.

There is this little house on the north shore that sits steps away from this beach. Snuggled privately outside of the back of this house, there is this small shower. I am there.

The water is slightly warm, and it washes away the salt. As I stand in the shower I can look in all directions and see beauty. The turquoise water is on my left, the plumerias and palm trees surrounded me, and just over the top of the plumeria tree I can see the peaks of the green Napali Coast.

I swear I can hear Jimmy Buffet singing, "Yes I want to be there, I want to go lie down beside the sea there.

This is the shower of bliss, and I am dancing in the dharmakaya
