Door to Eternity

"The rule is though I open the door to Eternity for you, as a door person, you must decide, and you alone, how far you wish to walk through it. No one is ever forced through. You will only walk through as far as your outer being permits. There you will stop."

-Rama

Limited Awareness. Until enlightenment, we only glimpse undifferentiated reality. Those glimpses of the unlimited are a gift from the door person - the enlightened being.

I remember the times I sat in an auditorium with such a being, and decided to walk through the doorway. Those journeys into eternity are part of me. The doorway is always open, I just have to decide to find the doorway and go through.

How far? I hope that I will follow the advice of a song from the Eagles and "Take it To the Limit". And then push beyond.

I get tired of my own self-sabotage. I put up the limits, and stop. Why? Fear probably is the driving force to hold me within the limits I know-that comfort zone that breeds mediocrity.

It is the year 2001. Perhaps this is the year that I will abandon some of those limits. It is that year that has the sound of the future. 200l: A Space Odyssey gives this year a spin that makes me face the fact that the future is here. The future is now.

How can I push past my own limits? Is there a way to go through that doorway that the teacher provides, and push past my old limits?

Rama has an answer to that question. "When each aspect and nuance of your life bespeaks refinement and completion. When your language is impeccable then your life will be sufficiently tight so that I can throw you through that doorway and you'll bounce back. Otherwise your life is too loose and you will only walk to the same point again and again."

It is 2001. As impeccable warriors we might see that it is time to take advantage of that doorway to enlightenment.

From Rama's Teachings

Rama presented thousands of techniques that were intended to help students along their own pathway to enlightenment. Techniques presented here may be useful for you. The teachings are meant to be used by students who are serious about their practice, and their own enlightenment.
