"Tantric Mysticism"

-- from Rama's tapes

Source Tape: Tantric Mysticism
February 1990

Rama says: "Mysticism is the exploration and the direct experience of consciousness. . . .Mysticism is an experiential yoga. In mysticism we're experiencing countless planes of reality, jumping in and out of cosmic doorways. . . .Tantra is the search for truth in the finite. Finding the infinite in the finite. Seeing God in everything. Mysticism is the experience of God in everything. Tantra is seeing, feeling, and ultimately becoming one with God and everything. Tantric mysticism combines the beautiful joy and laughter that we experience in mysticism along with the tremendous discipline in mysticism and precision with a broad based heart-oriented, love-oriented reconciliation that we find in tantra. In tantra we have this beautiful love that there is good in the hearts of all."

Rama points out that this is a very sophisticated practice, and the fastest path, one in which the student can go through countless lifetimes in this birth. He calls it the yoga of totality, because the student uses everything, everything!

Rama says: "The two fundamental building blocks of tantric mysticism are purity and humility. Meditation clears the way and makes the way possible."

Studying with a tantric mystic who can teach you by opening doorways in meditation and teach in dreaming is important.

Rama uses these lines from Theodore Roethke's "The Waking", to describe the essence of tantric mysticism: "I wake to sleep and take my waking slow. I feel my fate in what I cannot fear. I learn by going where I have to go."

Rama says: "Journey with me. In the body or out of it. While I'm alive or after I'm no longer here. It doesn't really matter, I'm always glad to drop by and teach people Tantric Mysticism. Oh, if I've been dead for a thousand years, it doesn't matter. . . I can easily dream myself back to teach the study to anyone. Or go to someone else that teaches the same thing. You'll find it's me. And then you'll find its you. And that we're one."

Rama presented thousands of techniques that were intended to help students along their own pathway to enlightenment. Techniques presented here may be useful for you. The teachings are meant to be used by students who are serious about their practice, and their own enlightenment.

A special thanks to
Lynne (Samadhi) for her writing, and the inspiration to begin this feature.
